Pens, paper and a small ruler
A clipboard would also be useful if you have one. You must not use pencil for the assessments

Scientific calculator
You aren't allowed to use your phone during the exam. It needs to have brackets, log and 10Ë£ functions

Type 1 sound level meter
You need to be sufficiently familiar with your own meter to be able to measure both Leq and L90 prior to the course. You also need to bring a field calibrator, spare batteries and a windshield.

​If you don't have access to an SLM, we can arrange to hire and insure one for you for a cost of £500. Please let us know during your booking.

Tripod and anemometer
A 1.5m lightweight tripod for your sound level meter, and a small handheld anemometer to check the windspeed

Outdoor clothes and footwear

The course includes outdoor measurements, so you will need to wear suitable outdoor clothes and shoes.
You will not need additional PPE such as safety boots, a hard hat or a high-visibility jacket
